Hello, I am Jenee' pronounced “Janay” and I am a dually credentialed therapist (LIMHP, LADC, MA Ed), that is I am licensed as a professional mental health counselor as well as a professional drug and alcohol counselor. I have been in practice since 2006 and have worked at Lutheran Family Services and Region II Human Services (Heartland Counseling and Consulting) as a co-occurring disorder therapist for the past 10 years with 5 years of experienced at both businesses. Clients with co-occurring disorders (COD) have one or more disorders relating to the use of alcohol and/or other drugs of abuse as well as one or more mental disorders. A diagnosis of co-occurring disorders occurs when at least one disorder of each type can be established independent of the other and is not simply a cluster of symptoms resulting from the one disorder. Working with co-occurring disorders is my passion. I am client centered, I believe everyone is unique with their own story and that clients' follow their own journey toward healing. I am fascinated with the complexities of our human existence, brains and central nervous systems and the roles they play in mental health, substance abuse/addiction and trauma. My passion is to work on promoting wellness, recovery and wholeness for individuals/families dealing with mental health and/or substance use disorders. I utilize Evidence Based Practices (EBP) to assist patients to reach wellness and succeed with their treatment/life goals. To me "recovery in mental health or substance use disorders is a journey, not a destination." I work with youth through adults and I am a Nebraska Registered Service Provider for Criminal Justice clients both adult and youth. All Trauma-informed services are provided in a way that is safe, supportive, and empowering. I am certified in EMDR, EAGALA Model, have training in the Seeking Safety Interventions for PTSD and Substance Abuse. I also use a wide variety of Evidence Based Practices in my therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) to name a few. About 90% of individuals who receive mental health and addiction treatment have a history of trauma, which is often not adequately assessed or treated. Approximately 8.9 million adults have dual disorders (i.e. both mental health and substance use disorders.) Only about 7% of individuals with a co-occurring disorder receive treatment for both conditions, and 56% received no treatment at all.
